5-1???

Image
The Lakers are 5-1 in there last 6 games and Anthony Davis is playing like a top 5 player in the league again. He is looking more fluid and playing more aggressive and attacking the basket instead of shooting a bunch of jumpshots. The Lakers are moving in the right direction and seem to be catching their stride. Lebron has been back for the past 2 games and has shown he still can be dominant. He had 39 points and 11 rebounds last night versus the Spurs with 7 3 point field goals. The Lakers are are finally figuring it out but being in the western conference is tough because of how deep it is. They are the 13th seed right now but trending upward. The last 5 games Anthony Davis is averaging upwards of 28 points and and 12 rebounds if he continues to dominate the Lakers will be a definite problem for the remainder of the season.  Anthony Davis is the engine of this team and they go how he goes.

Streaking

The Lakers beat the Spurs last night 123-92 and dominated the whole game. The team is on a 3 game winning streak without Lebron James and the team seems to be catching a bit of a stride. Lonnie Walker IV played a good game ending with 14 points, Anthony Davis destroyed the Spurs young bigs and ended with 30 points and 18 rebounds showing he still is a dominant force in the league. The young and promising Austin Reaves had 21 points with 3 three point field goals made while Westbrook tallied 10 points as well as 10 assists. Dennis Schroder had his first game this year back from injury and put in 13 points and Thomas Bryant who's also back from injury had 15 points and 9 rebounds which is what the Lakers need from him every night if they are going to be successful. This is a nice win for the Lakers to stay in the early playoff hunt. The season is still in the early parts and things could go either way but having early wins and not having to fight hard for a spot at the end is crucia

Lebron still dominant?

The lakers head into tonights game with 4 wins and 10 losses against a young and gritty Spurs team. A winnable game for sure but you never know with this team. Lebron James continues to put up numbers in year 18 of his Hall Of fame career, but is it just useless stats not leading to wins? Lebron is averaging 25 points 9 rebounds and 7 assist, which he has basically his whole career but are these empty stats? These numbers have not led the Lakers to a winning record and Anthony Davis said the other night " His game changes when Lebron is on the court" when Lebron has stated that this is AD's team. Lebron is 37 years old and even though his stats are good he is not in a place where he can lead and carry a team to the finals like in his prime years ( 2012 Miami Heat ). People around the league have stated that Lebron does not seem to have that "look" in his eyes to where he is trying to dominate every night. He seems to just be playing for records right now which

Weathering The Storm

It is Sunday night and the Lakers are going into halftime of their game versus the Brooklyn Nets up 9. The Lakers are playing excellent defense so far and are looking to secure a big win too snap another losing streak. Anthony Davis leads the way playing one of his best games of the season so far with 16 points and 11 rebounds in only the first half. This is the Anthony Davis the Lakers need for them to be successful. Davis has to be aggressive and demand the ball night in and night out for the Lakers to win. He can't force up outside shots but must be a dominant force inside. If he continues to play like this they should win tonight and moving forward, the team is prone to blowing large leads so hopefully they can hang out without Lebron tonight and secure a victory.

The Struggles continue

Image
The Lakers go into a tough Sunday matchup versus the struggling Brooklyn Nets at a league worst 2-10 record. Injuries on top of lack of consistency in play from the stars have plagued this squad who was looking to leave the poor taste of the 2021-2022 season in the past but has carried the struggles and inconsistencies on both ends of the court into this season. It seems the lack of shooting on the Lakers roster continues to be a major problem. In a league where 3 point shooting has become a major factor in winning games and competing for championships the Lakers rank towards the bottom shooting 30% from 3. Lebron James is shooting 23.9% while Anthony Davis is shooting 25% the league average is 34%. Even though Lebron and AD are leading the team in scoring rebounding and assist it seems they are putting up empty stats and not contributing to winning. Lebron is in his 17th season and AD has been plagued with injuries his whole career, it might be time to call it quits on this Laker tea

First Month of play

Image
The Lakers have started off the season at an abysmal 2-6. This year started off with so much turmoil and uncertainty around the Lakers roster and should they trade Russell Westbrook for more shooters for Lebron. In the highly talented Western conference the Lakers sit at 14th place out of 15, which is not good for a Lebron led team.  Last week the Lakers got their first win and had a mini 2 game winning streak where they looked like they could make a little push towards the top of the conference. Darvin Hamm the Lakers head coach made some lineup changes and had Russell Westbrook come off the bench and lead the 2nd group, which sparked the Lakers short lived streak. Russ went from shooting 28% from the field and 8% from the 3 point line while starting to shooting 57% from the field and 33% from the 3 point line off the bench. This allows Russ to be Russ and control the pace and offense and he can't do that while playing with Lebron. On paper it looks great but in the game the two

Introduction

Hey everyone my name is Qon Murphy and I actually am not even a Laker fan, I am a big time Lebron James fan and just an overall lover of everything basketball. I am originally from Charlotte, NC and have been playing basketball since I was 4 years old. This is my first year at UNC Pembroke playing basketball, I transferred from the University of New Hampshire where I played D1 basketball on a good team and started and contributed in multiple games. I decided to finish up my academic and athletic career down near my family and my girlfriend moved down from New Hampshire with me.  Living in Pembroke has been a big adjustment just due to the lack of things around us but it has been good overall and I am looking forward to getting my degree in the spring. This blog will will be about the Los Angeles Lakers season and how I see it going. I will not only talk about the results of games but have injury updates with stats and more. I will also give an updated opinion on how I think the season
